For the past eight years, Jennifer Buford has been a treasured part of the Fort Collins HighPointe family, bringing with her a lifetime of compassion shaped by her own story. Her journey began with her beloved brother, who has cerebral palsy, and with whom she shared a deep, unbreakable bond. Inspired by his strength, she found purpose in caring for others, devoting over 20 years to the intellectual and developmental disability field. Even as a champion track runner in high school and college, it was her brother’s courage that pushed her to keep going—he couldn’t walk, but she ran for both of them. At HighPointe, where she earned her CNA and found her true calling, Jennifer sees every client as family and lives by the belief that “we don’t know if we don’t try.” Her heart, her spirit, and her unwavering love make her not just a caregiver, but a light in the lives of everyone she serves.
For the past 11 years, Homer Abbott has been a dedicated and compassionate presence at HighPointe. Although he came to the role with no prior experience in the intellectual and developmental disability community, a friend’s recommendation led him to a career that would profoundly shape his life. Homer quickly formed meaningful connections with clients, particularly those navigating challenges with emotional regulation, and through these relationships, he came to truly embrace HighPointe’s mission and values. His work is deeply personal — a way to give back and make a difference, rooted in his own life journey. HighPointe is incredibly fortunate to have Homer, whose empathy, commitment, and heart continue to inspire everyone around him.
