Exceptional
Kids Club

Exceptional Kids is a once-a-month weekend club offering social and recreational activities for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) AND their families!

About Us

Where it all started.

Exceptional Kids was founded by Ken and Kim Ziel, parents of a son with highly-involved physical and developmental disabilities. They saw the need for inclusive spaces where children with disabilities and their families could come together, connect, and celebrate community. What began as a monthly kids’ club eventually inspired the creation of a day program that grew into HighPointe Services.

Launched in 2004, the Exceptional Kids Club ran for 10 years in Aurora, Centennial, and Colorado Springs, serving nearly 500 children. Today, with our beautiful new Centennial facility, we are excited to relaunch in October 2025. Exceptional Kids continues with the same heart and vision: to provide a joyful, safe, and welcoming place where kids and families can play, learn, and belong.

Program Structure

✨ The Exceptional Kids Club is a monthly, theme-based program created for children ages 5–12. Sessions are held on the first Saturday of each month, September through May, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Each gathering feels like a mini school carnival—filled with games, hands-on activities, and fun experiences designed to engage and include children of all abilities. Families are welcome to stay for the entire session or drop in for a shorter visit—whatever works best for you!

The program also provides an accessible and inclusive space where parents can actively participate and enjoy meaningful time with their children. Please note: this is not a drop-off program.
