During a recent Garage Social outing, our group enjoyed an evening of karaoke at a nearby Mexican restaurant filled with music, laughter, and unforgettable moments. As our members sang their hearts out and embraced the joy of the night, a fellow patron named Sergio was so moved by the fun, inclusivity, and genuine happiness on display that he generously paid for our meal. This unexpected act of kindness reminded us of the powerful impact community, inclusion, and shared joy can have—and how moments of connection can truly bring people together.

For the past decade, Rachel Taylor and her dedicated team at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts have been instrumental in enriching the lives of our clients at HighPointe through the transformative power of theatre. Over the last 10 years, they have produced an impressive 20 performances and delivered more than 500 hours of high-quality theatre education, reaching over 100 individuals.

Their work goes far beyond stagecraft. Rachel and her team bring passion, patience, and professionalism to every interaction, creating a supportive environment where our clients can thrive. Through workshops, rehearsals, and live productions, clients gain not only acting skills but also valuable life tools. The confidence built on stage often translates into greater self-assurance off stage—in classrooms, workplaces, and everyday life.

HighPointe is incredibly grateful for this longstanding partnership. The theatre education provided by the Denver Center for the Performing Arts has empowered our clients to find their voices, express themselves creatively, and advocate for their needs with pride and clarity. Rachel and her team have fostered a sense of belonging and achievement that continues to impact our community in deep and lasting ways.

In a powerful show of community spirit, Emmy Van Why has successfully raised significant funds to support mental health initiatives during Mental Health Week. Her efforts shine a spotlight on the critical need for mental health awareness within the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) community, underscoring how individual action can drive meaningful and lasting change.  

Emmy’s generous donation reflects the spirit of a new generation of leaders, and HighPointe is blessed to have her support in advancing its mission to serve the IDD community.

ASAP Asphalt and Concrete generously donated $25,000 worth of work to improve the safety and accessibility of our Centennial location. Their team repaired and resurfaced a section of the front sidewalk that had become uneven and hazardous over time. This crucial update ensures that our clients, many of whom use mobility aids, can safely enter and exit the building. We’re incredibly grateful for their support and commitment to creating a safer environment for the individuals we serve.

For over 10 years, Group Missions has been making a meaningful impact through their Week of Hope—a program that sponsors week-long mission trips to communities across the U.S. and beyond. Each summer, we at HighPointe have the privilege of welcoming these dedicated volunteers as they serve our clients with compassion, energy, and love.

The experiences shared during Week of Hope are truly enriching—not only for those we serve, but for the volunteers themselves. Their presence brings joy, connection, and a renewed sense of community to everyone involved.

We’re incredibly grateful for the ongoing partnership with Group Missions and look forward to opening our doors and hearts to these amazing volunteers each and every summer.

For the 10th year in a row HighPointe Services was blessed by Regis High School who provided 15 junior and senior student volunteers for two weeks working with our clients. The students worked with our clients and gained experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. We are so blessed by their compassion and support. Many of the students go on to careers working with our population after being exposed to our clients.

HighPointe Services was blessed by Douglas County who awarded a $30,500 grant from the Douglas County Mill Levy Grant fund supporting individuals with Developmental Disabilities. The funding will be used to purchase a new van for our Centennial program. Thank you, Douglas County Commissioners and voters.  

For the past four years, Linda Organ, our Accounting Manager, has helped bring holiday cheer to HighPointe by coordinating a special visit from her daughter and some students from the school’s wind ensemble. Each year, these talented students perform festive music for our clients, filling the community with joy and the spirit of the season.

Their continued dedication and heartfelt performances have become a tradition our clients look forward to and deeply appreciate. We’re grateful for their efforts and the happiness they bring year after year.

HighPointe Services was blessed by Gables Residential (www.gables.com) who sent a team of 25 volunteers to our Centennial facility for a Community Giveback Day. They gave our offices a fresh coat of paint, hung wall covering to protect our walls, and provided other maintenance support. We are very thankful to Ben Nollola, Vice-President of Operations for Gables and his suppliers Sherwin-Williams, Lowes, and Guardian Construction for providing the materials. A special shout out to Chris Vasquez, VP of Residential Services for HighPointe for coordinating with Ben and providing many hours of planning to make sure the day went well.  

HighPointe Services was blessed Developmental Pathways who awarded $61,800 in grant funding for three projects: the purchase of a new van, modification of our entrance doors to make them ADA compliant and funding for additional CNA staff. It will assist us in our continual effort to improve the quality of our programming. Thank you, Developmental Pathways.

The HighPointe Services Recreation program is excited to announce that its program offerings will begin in the summer of 2024 with a variety of social clubs and outdoor adventure trips. The clubs will take place during weekends and the outdoor adventure trips will take place during the week and weekends. It is an exciting expansion of services to further enhance the lives of our clients.

HighPointe Services was excited and honored to be included in the City of Centennial’s Bronco Youth Activity Grant Program. We were awarded the maximum grant amount of $100,000 to be used for recreation services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community. HighPointe plans to launch a variety of socials programs in 2024 including Exceptionals Kids Clubs for children ages 4-12, Livin’ Life Club for high school and college age young adults, and Club HighPointe for adults ages 21-35. 

HighPointe Services was honored to be one of a select group of non-profits in Colorado for inclusion in the 2024 Nonprofit Energy Efficiency Program (NEEP) which helps nonprofits that serve income-qualified Coloradans across the state in upgrading their facilities to increase energy efficiency and lower operating costs.  NEEP staff help conduct an energy assessment and supply grant funding to offset the purchase and installation of new equipment, including efficient lighting, insulation, low-flow fixtures, and HVAC systems.
HighPointe is very excited and honored to be included in this innovative and climate sensitive program.

HighPointe Services was blessed by Direct TV when they donated nearly $20,000 of used classroom and corporate office furniture to our program. The furniture is high quality chairs and tables that can withstand the daily wear of over 160 clients and 15 office staff per week.  

After a year of design and construction, HighPointe Services is excited to announce the opening of its new expanded program space at its Centennial flagship location. The new 6,000 square foot space includes a tech lab, art studio, classrooms and a large recreation space for social clubs, parent meetings, and other community events.

HighPointe Services was blessed by a $15,000 grant for the purchase of a new van to support our Fort Collins program. With the funds we were able to purchase a used Ram Pro Master van in July 2024 which will accommodate 6 passengers. Thank you, City of Centennial Commissioners and voters.  

HighPointe Services purchased its flagship program facility in Centennial. The organization had been a tenant in the building renting 2/3rds of the space since 2011 but decided to purchase the facility to expand its program space by over 6,000 square feet. The additional space will allow HighPointe to meet the growing demand for its services by serving over 50 new clients. It will also allow the organization to provide new recreation services in its facility.

Temple Grandin, a renowned animal behaviorist, author, and advocate for individuals with autism, has inspired millions with her groundbreaking work and personal journey. Diagnosed with autism at a young age, Dr. Grandin overcame immense challenges to become a leading voice in both the agricultural industry and the neurodiversity movement. Her story of perseverance and innovation has brought hope and empowerment to people around the world.

During her visit to our Fort Collins location, Dr. Grandin shared her experiences, answered questions, and took time to personally connect with our clients. Her presence was deeply meaningful—many of our clients look up to her as a role model, and seeing someone who has achieved so much while living with autism was both validating and inspiring. The visit left a lasting impact on everyone involved, reinforcing the belief that with support and determination, individuals with disabilities can achieve incredible things.

HighPointe Services is excited to Launch its new Residential Services Division providing residential management services to clients on the state Medicaid Comprehensive Service funding waiver. Chris Vasquez, Vice-President of Residential Services will oversee the program which is expected to serve over 100 clients in the next several years.

HighPointe Services is excited to launch its new online classroom. During the pandemic our clients were at risk of isolation and possible regression in socialization and independence skills. In response to the challenge HighPointe created a new broadcast studio and developed over 60 hours per week of original programming. The online classroom was a wonderful success and will become the platform for future online programming including a new morning talk show co-hosted by our clients.
